$400,000

Settlement for Family of Nursing Home Resident Who Died From Neglect

The Case
Our client’s family member, a nursing home resident, developed severe pressure ulcers because the facility failed to provide appropriate wound care, reposition the patient, and prevent infection. The neglect progressed to Stage 4 decubitus ulcers and sepsis, ultimately causing the resident’s death. We brought a claim on behalf of the family.
The Outcome
An expert retained by our firm identified several deviations from the accepted standard of care in how the facility treated our client’s loved one. After litigation, the case resolved for $400,000 holding the facility accountable and providing the family a measure of justice for a loss that should never have happened.
