Its services range from free phone advice and counsel sessions, to flat-fee in-person consultations, to full legal representation on a sliding scale starting at $60 per hour based on income and family size. As the organization puts it, even limited attorney access can change outcomes for families, often preserving a home, an income stream, or other stability that a family might otherwise lose while navigating a legal emergency without help. Charleston Legal Access‘s vision is a South Carolina where high-quality legal representation is available to everyone, contributing to a more fair and equitable justice system.
Annie Andrews served on Charleston Legal Access‘s Board of Directors from 2020 to 2024, supporting the organization’s work to make legal services more accessible across the Charleston area.
Annie’s commitment to expanding access to legal help lines up closely with the values behind her own practice. At Annie Andrews Law, she represents plaintiffs going up against insurance companies and other well-resourced defendants in catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and medical malpractice cases, work that depends on the same basic idea driving Charleston Legal Access: that people deserve a fair chance at legal help regardless of their financial circumstances. Her board service was an opportunity to support that mission on a broader, community-wide scale.
Annie has also continued to invest in her own leadership development, including as a:
- Graduate of the South Carolina Bar Association’s Leadership Academy, 2018
- Graduate of Leadership South Carolina, Class of 2022
